Latest Secretary's Report February 11, 2010 REGULARMEETING Central Connecticut Region AACA Meeting called to order at 7:10PM Lentini Communications, Berlin, CT President Nick welcomed everyone including a new member. We had 11 members in attendance. Nick reminded members of the Spring Banquet, and to get their reservation in soon. Also a reminder was given for the work detail scheduled for Sat. Feb 27th at 9am to paint the scaffolding at the Walton Tool Co. inWest Hartford. A show of hands willing to help was a count of 6. Nick introduced Alex Lentini who gave us a overview of their operation, what they do, the products they sell and service. This is amuch bigger facility than the one that they had in Newington Center. Of special interest was a demonstration of CB Radios. This is an excellent way to communicate to all drivers on a tour, for directions, changes in the original plan, safety, and needl ing comments to provoke laughter. Other clubs have been using CB’s for many years. Nick thanked George Scheyd for arranging his venue. Meeting adjourned at 8:
______________________________ February 2, 2010 BODMEETING Central Ct Region AACA Meeting Called to order at 7:00 PM Fox Laminating,West Hartford Secretary’s Report was read and accepted. Treasurer’s Report was read and accepted. OLD BUSINESS Nick explained why Ray Licotta was not at our meeting. Ray will be working nights for a few months, and we should see him at meetings in the near future. Nick reported that we had 30 members at the last meeting at the Packard Motoring Car Service in SouthWindsor. We have a handful of members who have not renewed at this time. Ray Yirga and SteveMackinnon will contact themone last time. Paul Boscowith the help of FredGlabau is putting together a listing of all paid up members for the national. This is required of AACA. They need a full accounting by March 1st. On January 19th Nick meet with our show committee, they reviewed what we have done in the past and will make changes to the show if needed. One area that will be addressed is the classification of cars. This has always been a area of concern for the club. NEW BUSINESS The bylaws committee will hold their last meeting on February 4th. At this time they should finish their work and the results will be reported to our President. Our banquet is set. It is April 17th in New Britain at Angelico's. Registration forms will follow in the club newsletter. Pay early and you get a discount, pay at the banquet and you pay full price. Get your check into Fred Glabau ASAP. Our car show should be June 13th with a rain date of the 27th. On the 27th of February we will have a cleaning up and painting party of our scaffolding at SkipWeek's shop in West Hartford at 9:00 AM.We will have FOOD for the workers. Member Dick Fuchs has his low milage Mustang featured in Hemmings Motor News publication,"Classic Cars". You should check it out. The 4C's now has a full time lobbyist working for car hobbyists in the state. Our next regular meeting will be February 11th in Berlin. Paul Bosco asked permission from the board if he could pass the hat around at the banquet in April to collect money for the 7 year old girl, Anna Melendez, who was struck down by a hit and run driver in Canton on January 26th. Paul has known the mother for over thirty years. Anna was walking across the street with her father and her two sisters when she was hit. She was brought to Hartford Hospital then transferred to the Connecticut Children's Center in critical condition. This past week she was taken off of a brain monitor and she has had two leg operations. If you have any question contact Paul at w166@cox.net or 860-844-8336. _____________________________ January 5, 2010 BODMEETING Central Ct Region AACA Meeting Called to order at 7:05 PM Fox Laminating,West Hartford Secretary’s report was read and accepted. Treasurer’s report was read and accepted. OLDBUSINESS Nick thanked Ray Yirga and all the board members for the hard work they have done in the past year. The club scaffolding is now at SkipWeeks shop inWest Hartford. The board will find a day that we can go to his shop and clean the scaffolding up and paint it. This will be a club effort. It will probably be on a Saturday. NEWBUSINESS SteveMacKinnon is our newmembership Chairman. He is looking for some newmembers. If you know of anyone who is worthy of being a member, let Steve know and he will get the club information out to them. Bob Hand reported that the club mailings for the month have just gone out. (note: If any member is not receiving the newsletter, let someone know). The clubwould like to use the internet to communicate with the membership. But if you do not have a email address, you should get a hard copy of the newsletter in the mail. A question was brought up about how long different members serve on the board. It has been a few years since we have set limits on different members of the board.We will try and go back into our archives and look into this. One item that the board agreed upon is that all board members should try and make each meeting. A committee has been formed to look into our charter and bylaws.We have not updated it since September 1996. The Chairman of this committee is George Scheyd, also serving are Paul Bosco, Carl Earn, and John Rodgers. The first meeting of this committee will be January 7th. Our banquet is just about set. It looks like April 17th in New Britain at Angelico's.More info will follow in the club newsletter. Our car show should be June 13th with a rain date of the 27th. We still have a few openings for regular meeting nights. If anyone has an idea let us know. Meeting adjourned at 8:00PM Paul Bosco, Secretary January 14, 2010 REGULARMEETING Central Connecticut Region AACA Meeting called to order at 7:15PM PackardMotor Car service Inc., SouthWindsor Secretary's Report was not read. Nick thanked Ray Yirga and the Board for the work they have done in the past year. Nick also asked if anyone was not receiving the newsletter. Themembership present was informed that Bob Hand is now publishing the newsletter. If anyone needs a hard copy, Bob will send you one if he has your current and correct address. Nick let the membership know that we are now publishing our meet book on our website. All the advertising in the meet book is now on the web site. Members who sell ads should point this out to prospective advertisers that they not only get the ad in the meet book, but it is also run at our web site for one year. John Biebeck is once again planning the maple syrup tour inMassachusetts. Look for more details to follow in the newsletter, or contact John at 860-916-3582. Club members were reminded of the upcoming meeting dates: 2/11/10 Lentini Communications-Berlin CT carry a large range of radio equipment for your car when you are touring. 3/11/10Model A Ford clinic at Red Leiners shop in Berlin CT.
